Recording your voice onto a PowerPoint

I’ve been meaning for years to master this then blog about it, but I give up. Help!

I know there’s a way to record your voice during a presentation, including the timings of when you changed slides.

I want to do this, because then I can post a talk immediately for automated playback. I sure wish I could do it with today’s 14 minute talk!

I’ve been experimenting with this as well. I use PowerPoint on the Mac in case that makes any difference, but here is what I’ve been experimenting with. On each slide, use Insert, Audio, Record Audio (I place the speaker in an upper or lower corner). Then I use animation to make the audio play either on a click or automatically when the slide opens. Then under Slide Show, use Record Slide Show. Let me know if it works for you!

Thanks. It sounds like this is not something you could do in real time during a speech, right?

Oh, not sure. I was thinking of recording at home in order to post, distribute, etc. Maybe the Record Slide Show function could still work in the way that you mean, in real time of a presentation? I’ve found this good reference at least for my first idea of recording in advance for distribution.
